Learning to Accept

Dear Mita,

I dreamt of a beautiful young boy crying. He was looking at a tiny scratch on my leg and was shedding tears at the pain he thought I must have felt. It was so touching. And yet I kept telling him no big deal. I cannot forget the depth of his sensitivity. What does it mean? – Mumbai 45.

Dear Mumbai 45,

All our lives we are taught to be kind to others and be sensitive to their needs. Rarely are we taught how to receive the kindness of others. Just as important as it is to give love, it is as important to learn to receive loving words and feelings graciously. As Alexander Mc Call Smith says  “Gracious acceptance is an art –  Accepting another person’s gift is allowing him to express his feelings for you.”  Perhaps your dream was a message to learn to acknowledge and receive the love from all the wonderful souls in your world. And experience happiness that comes from sharing love:)

Little babies magically bring out all the love and joy that’s hidden in our hearts. Yesterday while visiting my husband’s colleagues, I was blessed to meet their sweetest 3 month baby girl. She awoke in my arms, smiled straight at me, and promptly went back to sleep:)

No matter how tempting it is to sink into misery, swim. Use your arms and legs. Take deep breaths. Will yourself to rise above the tide of negative thoughts and emotions and find something positive to hold on to.

“I’m back”

She sat down with a grim look draped in a black shawl that was as heavy as her mood. When she described the politics that was taking place in the corporation she worked for, I began to feel the grayness as well. Behind the whitest of collars are some pretty dirty necks. She had been treated unfairly and now to see people gloat at her expense was just too much to take.

And when she turned over the cards.

The messages were too to the point.

Quit playing the martyr.
Quit now and you’ve lost.
Forgive but dont forget the lesson.
Get up and impress yourself with your abilities.

She grinned.

“I’ll show them”

No, no, not them, show YOURSELF just how strong and resilient you are.

The look she gave me was like watching a 40w bulb suddenly blaze at 200w.

🙂

Reading Past Lives with the Tarot

reincarnation

For those among us who believe in reincarnation, our past lives hold the key to a number of lessons in this lifetime that we need to learn. It isn’t important whether you were a pauper or a prince, a prisoner or a prima donna, what’s critical is why the image or the memory has returned this lifetime, what common lesson is being carried forward into this life that you may need to take note of. And over the years, I’ve discovered that the Tarot does indeed give a glimpse of those lessons that have been carried across the centuries – but only if your intent is clear and the lesson significant enough to mention.

Recently a young woman came to see me. Badly hurt by an older man who had not only two timed her but literally robbed her of her life savings, she looked across the table and just asked why. She admitted to feeling rage and spent her time planning her revenge, which deep down she knew wouldn’t really help. The issue she felt was something more.

We turned to the Tarot for answers. And sure enough, it was a past life theme that was recurring in her life. In one lifetime they were business partners and she had betrayed him by murdering him. In another they were warriors on the battleground and in another they were father and son, where she as the son let her father down when he needed his son the most. Every lifetime carried painful memories, and the card of heartbreak kept repeating itself over spread after spread.

Now that we had managed to uncover when and in what form this man had appeared in earlier lifetimes, we then tried to find out the most important thing. Why was he back. Why was she hurt again. And what did she need to learn? And strangely she pulled out the card of forgiveness. Somewhere he had returned in this lifetime to teach her this difficult yet critical lesson. And seemed to point that she would find peace after forgiving him and rising above the recent events, and her soul would evolve to greater things when she learnt how to forgive herself.. A tough lesson indeed and one in which I learnt from as well as the interpreter of her cards.

We discussed the concept of forgiveness for a while, and what was beautiful was her willingness to understand the importance of it in our lives. The longer we hold on to our resentment and rage, the more painful it becomes for us. The more we realize that some heartaches owe their roots to hundreds of years ago, the sooner we realize that in the big picture this lifetime is simply a promotion in the school of life and if we want to graduate or move on to the next class or grade we need to past some tests. Easy to theorize about but tough to implement, lessons like forgiveness are things we all know about, but sometimes just shrug off, finding it too simplistic. But it’s the simplest things that are the hardest to learn.

Somewhere in the session, the cards had unlocked issues she needed to address and now it was up to her. The cards could only point in a certain direction, the rest was up to her. She walked away a little relieved and returned the next week with her friend who wanted to know about a past life connection to some man she had met, just for fun. And just that day, her cards decided to have a bit of fun themselves. As she pulled out her cards from the deck, they remained totally silent about her past life. I shrugged my shoulders and smiled and read her Significator card as her message. “Enjoy the present moment” it said.

Have you found your soulmate?

love tarot, signs you've met your soulmate, soulmate

cat and dog togetherTime and time again people ask me if the particular person they’ve met is their soulmate. When I read their auras and energies, I always find those who have found their soulmate shine brighter than others. There’s a particular glow in their eyes which can only stem from finding someone who adds meaning to their lives. People we term soulmates.

Who are soulmates?
Soulmates are special souls who don’t just come in our lives by accident. They come for a reason. Usually to share certain spiritual lessons along the way, or to teach us something we need to understand at a core level. The feelings are genuine and the connection is very deep, going beyond lifetimes. Sometimes we may meet someone we are attracted to so much that we feel consumed by their energies. And we cannot stop thinking of them, long after our last meeting.

Soulmates don’t appear by accident, and meetings are always destined. Usually there’s a common purpose or a lesson we need to learn in this lifetime. Not all soulmates love is romantic in nature, we may even have soulmates in our family but for this article I will be stressing on the romantic soulmates.

Though there’s a lot of mystery surrounding soulmates here are a few common signs that he may be the one:

Soulmates usually appear after a difficult period in your life to help you heal, for instance: heartbreak or loss.
When you lock gazes, the connection is almost electric.
He calls or SMS’s you within a few seconds of you thinking of him.
You just ‘know’ what he’s thinking even if he’s in another location.
You understand his moods.
You don’t need to explain things to him, the understanding is intuitive.
You’ve had dreams of him before you even met.
You get a feeling of deja vu around him, almost like you’ve known him forever or in a different lifetime.
In some ways both of you are identical, but in some ways, absolutely opposite to one another. This could be a clue into what you need to learn from him.
You may face certain obstacles or challenges together as spiritual tests, or you may have already faced similar trials in your past. It’s not unnatural to find soulmates sharing similar histories before meeting.

To quote, Lee Ann Wiseman who says “When two soulmates meet in the physical world, it is similar to a home coming… you feel that recognition and love deep within your spirit… and know that this is a person you’ve always had beside you, even if not in physical form. Sharing the same dreams… feeling each other’s emotions from a distance… sensing when the other is in need… these are all common among soulmates. It is more than just sharing the same likes and dislikes, it is an instant connection that feels like it has always existed.”

moon's view

“A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever” – John Keats

What’s the most beautiful thing that’s around you right now?

When I received this delightful picture of what my friend Moon sees outside her window, I looked around me.

My eye caught so many beautiful paintings and crystals on the shelves and on the walls. But it rested on a faded picture of my parents singing together for the first time in front of the mike. They look so gorgeous and happy! Dad’s grinning shyly behind the mike while Mom is beaming at the audience – a group of her club mates.

Truly, instant joy forever.

Just Let Go

Before we began her reading, I told her the Tarot cards could answer “why” questions in a way no other tool of divination could. Her eyes lit up for a second and she prepared herself for a session.

“Why me?” she demanded, as the cards were shuffled and laid across her. “Why do I always face the challenges? The delays? The obstacles on my path. The heartbreaks. The hidden enemies. Why me?

We meditated on her energies and this is the message her cards revealed.

“If you had it easy in your life you would have been a selfish and blindly ambitious person who would have stepped on people’s toes, cared little about their feelings and would have not shared your wealth with the underprivileged. You would have been explosive and impatient with the slow and the elderly. You would have bragged about your wealth and status to others and few would have warmed upto you.

Adversity came in your life to teach you patience, persistence, hope and compassion. If you received everything you wanted when you desired it, you would have turned scornful and fearful of losing what you earned.

Adversity has shown you the value of everything you have because you’ve worked hard for it. Adversity has also taught you to give to the less fortunate with compassion and little expectation, because in your heart you know man is never grateful for what he gets freely.

You have learnt to expect little from others, experience has taught you self reliance. You have also learnt that good things come to those who wait. Success is yours, you have already accomplished things few would have only dreamt of. You know it’s not a huge windfall, it comes in bits and pieces and in your case success will be sweeter.

Your soul has learned quite a few lessons in your lifetime. Now in order to get what you want. Just Let Go.

We smiled and she checked her diary for her next question….

Exploring Soulmates with the Tarot cards

05 Saturday Jan 2013

A couple of years ago a dear friend from Malaysia sent me a poem about the friends who come in our lives for a season or a reason. Somehow that line has always stuck with me, and I’ve come to believe in the fact that no one appears in our lives just like that. Every encounter and connection we make with people has a reason behind it, an important learning and a reconnection from lifetimes of yore.

This is when I ask you a basic question. Have you ever met someone who you felt you’d known from a long time ago? Someone with whom communication was effortless and sometimes even telepathic? It may have been a lover, a colleague, a relative or even a stranger you met on a plane, but somehow you knew you understood them in a way that was inexplicable.

That strange connection we’ve all encountered is what I’ve come to understand is a soulmate connection. Not necessarily romantic in nature, yet compelling and magnetic, it makes us wonder why we’ve met them again. Or what we need to learn from them.

Recently a woman came to me with a query about a connection she had with a friend. Purely platonic yet so harmonious, she knew it would never be anything more than friendship yet somewhere she felt they’d reunited for a reason. And that’s when we turned to the Tarot. Strangely enough, the card drawn was the 2 of Cups. The card of harmony, of 2 equals, the yin and yang, of 2 soulmates reuniting. Which reconfirmed her feelings that this friendship was important to not just her, but to the both of them. When we examined the learnings between them, there were many. From the lesson of acceptance to the role of playing a guide in each other’s life. She had a lot to teach him and he in turn was helping her connect with her Higher Self. At the end of the reading both of us felt sated, as if we’d found the answers she’d been seeking.

To elaborate, allow me to quote Lee Ann Wiseman “When 2 soulmates meet in the physical, it is similar to a home coming… you feel that recognition and love deep within your spirit… and know that this is a person you’ve always had beside you, even if not in physical form. Sharing the same dreams… feeling each other’s emotions from a distance… sensing when the other is in need… these are all common among soulmates. It is more than just sharing the same likes and dislikes, it is an instant connection that feels like it has always existed.”

Nice isn’t it? And what’s nicer is that this deck of 78 cards can help us probe further into the connection and allow us to emerge empowered by the mysterious knowledge of the Tarot.
