The Universe always sends us what we need to learn. Sometimes the lesson comes directly to us, sometimes we witness or feel it another person and then we get it. Today I received a call from my son’s school saying he had high fever and I rushed across to pick him up, cancelling my plan to meet up with an old friend after 25 years. A part of me felt bad because I had been looking forward to this meeting but as every mother knows, her child’s needs come first. As he slept at home, I cried a little selfishly for myself and all that I had given up.
A few hours later while I was doing a written report reading for a middle aged single woman who had been through so many tragedies and losses in her life, I began to feel her grief while typing her answers. The pain was palpable, the hopelessness and the sadness of her not being able to become a mother touched my heart. Here I was, feeling sorry about giving up a plan to go out because my son was sick and here was this woman who’s pain was 50 times my own. And she only wanted to ask the cards how she could find peace and her answer lay in the card of “Acceptance” A lesson which was not only for her, but for me too and all of us. We have to just accept things as they are. We can make it easier for ourselves, or harder, the choice remains in our hands. Always.
“Before you can live a part of you has to die. You have to let go of what could have been, how you should have acted and what you wish you would have said differently. You have to accept that you can’t change the past experiences, opinions of others at that moment in time or outcomes from their choices or yours. When you finally recognize that truth then you will understand the true meaning of forgiveness of yourself and others. From this point you will finally be free.”
