Change is constant, changing energies with Tarot, Tarot Readings

The Tarot is based on the present moment, the cards pick up and reflect  the energies that surround you right now in the Universe. As energies change (which they will constantly in the Universe) so will the answers. However as I have seen in the case of repeated questions, the major issues and dominant personality traits remain the same. Sometimes the same card is repeated but many a times, the cards change with every subsequent reading.

For example a young man who  had a reading about a transfer in his company 3 times in one month. The first time the cards assured him of long term success professionally, a need to be patient and positive. He had informed the Management, had reached out to a few key people he had worked with earlier and had to focus on completing the project in hand.

In the second reading, the cards revealed recent conflicts and obstacles which would delay or sabotage his transfer. The querent admitted to having a  loud, verbal disagreement with a coworker who complained to the Management. The energies had changed around him and so had the outcome.  The 10 of pentacles returned assuring him of long term success but a need to handle the crisis coolly and professionally lest there be dire consequences.

His third reading followed a week later. His contract had  been terminated and there were no signs of renewal nor any responses to his request for a transfer. Clearly the cards had changed and reflected the changes in his energy and his company towards him. However, long term professional success was still assured but a change in his current path was suggested.

The Universe is in a constant flux, nothing remains the same. A single thought or act on part of the querent can totally change the reading. To quote the wise ones “nothing is every carved in stone, as energies change so does the outcome”

Most people turn to the Tarot purely for predictions, not realizing that these ancient deck of cards can offer so much more to the querent than just what will happen tomorrow.

Here are a few ways that you can fully tap into the potential of the Tarot.

  1. Self Development – The Tarot answers questions about the inner self in a way no other tool of divination can. Not only can it help you guide you to ways of  self improvement, it can point areas of strength, weakness and potential we all possess. Questions like “What do I need to learn about being a better parent to my children?” “What do I need to understand about a recurring dream?” “How can I make this relationship work?”
  2. Ideas and Direction – Many fiction and non fiction writers use the Tarot cards  for plot development and even character insights.
  3. Learning about symbolism of ancient cultures. The vivid imagery in each card speaks a lot more than eye can see and the Tarot gives you an insight into the world of occult symbols and their meanings be it from the Celts, the Ancient Egyptians etc.
  4. Clarity when it comes to understanding yourself and others. The Tarot reveals character traits, why a person may be facing a particular challenge and even a way forward.
  5. Although the Tarot cannot “make a decision” for us, it can offer us an indepth look into our choices eg “If I take up the new job offer what can I expect?”
  6. Tool for Meditation. Many readers love use the Tarot cards as a tool for meditation and many have even helped their querents focus on areas which they’d like to make peace with.

The next time you open your deck of cards for self study or go for a reading, consider tapping into the total potential of the Tarot, going beyond what will happen tomorrow, to what you can do right now for yourself. Remember, it’s all about the question you ask.

5 Ways to  Beat Phone Fatigue

In a world that’s slowly getting run by mobile phones, it’s not hard to get phone fatigue. Best described as simply getting tired of hearing ringtones, pings, voices and feeling a slight headache you just know when you’ve had enough of your phone, or even the phone of the guy in the next cubicle, or the lady in the queue. Your ears, your brain and your voice-box (larynx) are simply drained out.

Here’s what you should do when it gets unbearable:

  1. Switch your phone off or put it on silent for an hour.
  2. Go outdoors, get some chores done, walk in the park.
  3. Meditate.
  4. Drink plenty of water. Dehydration depletes the energy without us even realising it.
  5. Connect with nature. I like to tend to my plants or play with my pet cats.

The key is becoming aware that we are human after all, and do need to rest and recharge from that which is draining us the most.

The Gurus of Patience

The Gurus of Patience

Christmas time at a busy airport.

The queue was endless.

And the passengers were getting impatient.

The officials at the immigration counter didn’t care.

They sipped their tea and chatted.

While a few voices cried out “We’re going to miss our flight!”

And babies yelled, sick of being carried, yearning to run free on their tiny feet.

One group of men in saffron robes stood apart.

in their demeanour.

Totally unaffected by the chaos, the crowds and the panic.

They held on to their passports and stood calmly, smiling inside.

They knew, their turn would come, in time.

It was pointless to shove and to shout.

Everybody goes where they are meant to go, when the time is right.

Where would we be without the kindness of strangers?

The Kindness of Strangers

It is only  a sense of deep gratitude  I feel for all the strangers who have helped me without me even asking them.

The security guard who carried my crying 6 month old while I fumbled in my bag for my boarding pass in an international airport.

The lady who held my hand tightly while I stumbled on the mossy pebbles in a temple pond.

The man who gave me his handkerchief when I received a call about the death of a loved one in a queue.

The old couple who emailed me pictures of my son performing in a street play when my camera battery died.

The cashier who lent me her phone to make an emergency call when I forgot my phone.

Or even the lady who let me stand in front of her in the check out queue because I had just one item while her shopping cart was full.

And countless other angels down the years who were there when I needed a helping hand. They came forward wordlessly, in seconds and I still thank each and every one of them.

Without even realising it, these people show us the world isn’t such a cold and cruel place.  By being themselves, they inspire us every day to extend our hand if we see a stranger stumble or fall. To pay their kindness forward and add a little kindness to our worlds.
