The Ajai Alai Mantra was written in the 17th century by the great Sikh Warrior saint Guru Gobind Singh in Gurmukhi, who taught self-worth and grace in times of difficulty or negativity with his words of praise.  The Ajai Alai is a part of the Jaap Sahib daily prayer and is believed to usher in pure positive energy into our hearts and to this planet.  It shifts your own vibration by bringing you into alignment with the qualities of the Creator. This version has been chanted by Mirabai Ceiba a duo consisting of guitarist/singer Markus Sieber and singer/harpist/keyboardist Angelika Baumbach.

Agaah Adhaah – Unfathomable. Incorruptible

Na Raagay Na Rangay – Beyond love. Beyond color
Na Roopay Na Raykhay – Beyond form. Beyond shape

Do you have Boss Karma?

Like energies, Tarot readings also go through phases. In the past month or so, the majority of my sessions have had to do with workplace issues, namely bosses.

Here are a few examples :

“I have no problems with my spouse or my friends. But the minute I walk into work I feel uneasy with my boss. Why has this happened throughout my career? “

“She’s so uncommunicative with me, will keep all matters secret until the last minute and I end up staying back late and confused with her hurried instructions. I cannot perform. How do I deal with a Boss like her?”

“He puts me down in front of my team in meetings. It is humiliating and frustrating to work under his supervision. What can I expect if I quit this company?”

“Why have I always had insecure immediate bosses who never let me grow throughout my career?”

“I love my job but I cannot work with my Boss. He micromanages my whole life? How can I find peace and balance?”

Throughout our careers we will work with a variety of people. And like all relationships, there will be harmonious ones, and some that are downright unpleasant, uncomfortable and the reason for quitting. Most of the times it’s an issue with the Boss, either an immediate superior or the level above. Someone with whom the interaction is more frequent and uncomfortable, demotivating, unpleasant or draining. In such cases the chances of a karmic connection are revealed in a session, along with the suggestions on how to deal with the situation.

With each case being unique, with each lesson differing from soul to soul, the levels of Karma differ. Some may have an extremely stressful relationship with one particular boss and then move on to a place of harmony either with the superior or with other bosses. Where some may face difficult bosses in all their jobs throughout their career. What could be the lesson?

I would also like to add, that not all boss karma is tough or stressful. Some may have been blessed with true leaders as Bosses and have shared a mutually enriching relationship. The karmic lesson would then be to carry the blessing forward, knowing how to treat others when you become a Boss.

Situations will always vary, but like all relationships there will always be a lesson to learn and to grow from. Be it from a good boss or a challenging one.

The Energy you Send Will Return 3x.

donotcurseonlybless, getwhatyougive, wisewomenteachings

Today I heard about the passing of an old Cherokee medicine woman who I met way back in 2001. Probably one of the wisest people I’ve ever met. I consulted her when I had quit the corporate world and my last boss disclosed to me that he had stolen my personal file from my desk to hinder my future job search. While I was relieved to know what happened to that file, I was also angry and deeply disappointed by his petty act. I knew I wanted to be self employed but I couldn’t shake off the anger I felt for him. I will never forget her words of wisdom.

“Do not curse those who curse you, belittle you, or harm you. Bless them. For what you send out will return three times over back to you. And the negativity they send out will return three times over back to them”

It took months of inner work. Whenever I felt hurt by his act of jealousy and sabotage I worked hard to not send him negativity, which was easier and oh so tempting. I sent him good wishes and surrendered to the laws of karma.

Looking back I realised the importance of her words. As individuals we can not please everyone. There will always be someone who’s unhappy and threatened by the people we are. They will criticise, tear us down, block our paths and the temptation to drop down to their levels will arise, but the best way forward for peace is to resonate at a higher vibration. Send them love, send them light, send them forgiveness and focus on your own path.

Rest in Peace dear Anna. Your words of wisdom will stay on forever.

Why do some people take longer to benefit from meditation?

07 Thursday Nov 2019

Clear Quartz Ganesha, personal collection

Speaking from personal experience, it took me 2 years of daily meditation to actually feel the real experience. Why did it take me so long?

  1. I’m naturally a restless person, I found it hard to stay still as a child and even as an adult, meditating in one pose was really really hard in the beginning. I would get pins and needles on my feet and found it hard to stop thinking about the physical realm.
  2. I can think think think all day till I get tired. And during the first months of meditation my thoughts just wouldn’t stop.
  3. My own fears would hold me back from being in the place of stillness and surrender. It was the unknown, it was so new. And my own subconscious fears and resistance were holding me back from getting into that state.
  4. My own soul learnings. This is what reading about the subject taught me. Meditation is a journey that can span lifetimes. People who have been experienced many lifetimes of spiritual living, meditating etc would take a shorter time to feel the benefits of meditation than those who were spiritual novices. Made sense to me.

Now that it’s been over 20 years of regular meditation I don’t care how long it took me initially, the point I learnt is to not give up. Had a distracted and restless meditation session, never mind, tomorrow will be better. Had to cut short your meditation because of another appointment. That’s ok a little meditation is better than none.

Meditation is not competition. There is no race to enlightenment. It is only a way to find peace, to connect, to heal and to be. If it’s taking you longer than other students to understand, that’s ok. Just don’t give up trying. The peace you feel inside you is the biggest reward/benefit and that cannot be compared.

All the best on your journey:)

Is Green Your Colour?

A green Diwali in our home last month

Green is the color of Mother Earth and is considered to be the most restful colour for our eyes. Long symbolized by the ancient Egyptians as the color of hope and healing, green has been used extensively by ancient healers and modern day colour therapists. Studies have revealed that those who work in green environments have fewer stomach aches. And suicides dropped by 30% when the Black Friar Bridge in London was repainted green. Painting kitchens green brings feelings of freshness and vitality while cooking. Surgeons began to wear the colour green as it helped to calm their patients and heal them at subtle levels.

Green has restorative and rejuvenating qualities. It represents regrowth, abundance and peace which is what Nature gives to us. The colour green too is neutral, and can work with other colors. In chakra healing green symbolizes our heart chakra, from where we give and receive love. Green crystals like Aventurine, Jade and Emerald are said to protect, heal and soothe physical ailments. Green is ruled by the planet of Mercury that guides our communication and a great day to wear Green is on Wednesdays. Some currencies have been printed in Green to denote prosperity and wealth.

My favourite spot during walking meditations

Here are a few ways to heal yourself and others with Green

Green is easy to add to any environment through the use of plants. As living things, plants add energy and harmony to any space. Natural purifiers they reduce the effects of pollution indoors. Plants like Ficus, Areca Palm, Money planet help change the energies of the room you’re in. Avoid plants in bedrooms though.

For restful sleep, green bed linen or curtains or walls help reduce anxiety.

Carry a green wallet or keep some money in a green envelope in your purse.

While meditating, focus on a green object – a plant, a painting, even a green statue. This colour harmonizes the flow of prana or universal life force, throughout the psychic centres.

There are many more ways to use the colour green in your life, not only creatively but also therapeutically.

Just standing in front of the tree was therapy itself
