One day a young Buddhist on his journey home came to the banks of a wide river. Staring hopelessly at the great obstacle in front of him, he pondered for hours on just how to cross such a wide barrier.

Just as he was about to give up his pursuit to continue his journey he saw a great teacher on the other side of the river. The young Buddhist yells over to the teacher, “Oh wise one, can you tell me how to get to the other side of this river”?

The teacher ponders for a moment looks up and down the river and yells back, “My son, you are on the other side”.

The New Norm

Hexagram Fu, I Ching, The Turning Point

The Pandemic has rocked our world.

There are days when it feels like a rollercoaster.

There are days when it feels like the Dead Sea.

And there are days when it’s all about walking

in a brand new pair of shoes.

Getting used to the fact that

there is a new beginning at hand.

Something has changed

Forever transformed. Forever altered.

And it’s a process that will keep happening .

Until we all go to a space where we were meant to be.

And it’s up to us to steer our course, through choppy waters

and swampland. By simply choosing to adapt to the sudden changes.

With an open mind and hope in our hearts.

In uncertain times the present moment becomes even more powerful. When we take care of how we feel, think, or act today, we can be assured of a better tomorrow. And sometimes all we need is a little nudge or a message that connects and puts us back on track or assures us we’re on track.

Here’s what my Crystal Oracle had to say when I turned to it for some much needed clarity.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Practice the Pause. You’ll get all your answers during your me-time. And a slow realisation that you need to take control of something in your life. Could it be your finances? Or your health? Or your relationships?

Taurus (Apr 20- May 20)

Acknowledge the kindness of others. Remember those you take for granted. Cherish and value those who have given without expectation. Go beyond yourself. How can you bring a ray of sunshine into someone else’s life today?

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Slow doesn’t mean No. Something’s testing your patience. And something’s got to change. The good old days weren’t necessarily the most balanced days. Hang in there. Some changes happen in a flash. And some take their time.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

When you’re not happy with your self how can you be happy with others? Someone will always disappoint you or not meet up to your standards. Time to forgive all those who hurt you and yourself for all those who you hurt.

Leo (July 23- Aug 22)

Don’t think of it as loss. Look at it as a clearing space for the future. Minimise waste. Minimise damage. New beginnings can only take place after purging the old. Mother Earth reminds you to be more careful.

Virgo (Aug 23- Sept 22)

Kindred spirits are coming towards you. Will you reconnect with an old flame? Or find someone who feels like family? Or create something awesome with the power of brainstorming and respectful teamwork?

Libra (Sept 23- Oct 22)

The winds of change are blowing in your direction. Will you flow with the breeze or stand firmly against it. Believe you can and you will. Prepare yourself well and you’ll float right through the storms.

Scorpio (Oct 23- Nov21)

Flexibility is always a blessing. Whether it’s the feeling you get after a great Yoga class. Or whether you stop and truly listen and put yourself in someone else’s shoes. And understand them.

Saggitarius (Nov 22- Dec 21)

Be willing to forgive. Accept the apology. Even if the memory hurts you, it’s time to let it go and give the relationship another try. Some bonds are worth fighting for, some bonds just break away don’t they?

Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan19)

You are in charge of how you feel and where you are headed. Let others have their say, but do what you must and do what you feel is necessary. Don’t back down down, now your journey has just begun in the direction you wish to shine.

Aquarius (Jan 20- Feb 18)

Sometimes you need to dig out the compass and decide where you want to go. Trust your inner judgement, you are already learning who’s real and who’s fake and now you will be steered in another direction if you don’t pay attention.

Pisces (Feb 19- Mar20)

Open minds never get disappointed. Approach your journey like a child, everything is changing, everything is renewing. What would you like to keep with you, what do you think it’s time to leave behind.

Hurt First. Heal After

“I can’t understand how on earth I am healing when I’m in so much pain” the student asked her Teacher.

Image of Guru Rinpoche or Padmasambava.

With a stern expression and a deep husky voice the white haired Teacher answered.

“First it hurts you then it heals you”

“What is it?” she clenched her hands as a wave of pain gripped her.

“Old karma, repressed beliefs, trauma, fears. Everything you’ve buried in you for centuries. Don’t hold on to the pain memory. Let it go.”

“But what if the next pain hurts even more”

“Don’t let the fear of future pain paralyse you. You’ve survived this. You’ll survive the rest”

Teacher dusted his desk meticulously while the student pondered.

“How Do I Meditate as a Beginner?”

12 Sunday Apr 2020

You are no longer a beginner when you decide to meditate. Something in you recognizes the need for inner peace. And you’ve cleared the first step to the most important journey you will ever make in your life.

However what follows is consciously making Meditation a part of your daily routine. Like brushing your teeth and hair. Like making your first cup of tea. Make time to meditate. Even if its for 5 minutes. Even if it’s for an hour. Set reminders.

Choose a technique that works for you. Explore different meditative techniques for at least a month and you will intuitively know which technique works for you. There are hundreds of ancient and contemporary techniques to choose from. I began with just focussing on my breath for months.

Don’t Quit. Keep going. There will be tough days, there will be easy days. Even after nearly 2 decades I still find it hard to stay still at times. But I remember the first step I took when I decided to meditate. And as any meditator will tell you, it will be the most memorable journey of your life.

All the best on your journey.

The Present Moment

Danke nochmal Eckhart Tolle for reminding me to return to the present moment:)

“As soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease. When you act out the present-moment awareness, whatever you do becomes imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love – even the most simple action.”

“Watch any plant or animal and let it teach you acceptance of what is, surrender to the Now.
Let it teach you Being.
Let it teach you integrity — which means to be one, to be yourself, to be real.
Let it teach you how to live and how to die, and how not to make living and dying into a problem.” Eckhart Tolle

What Is the Coronavirus Teaching Your Sun Sign?

In all honesty, I could not bring myself to write my regular Monthly forecast. It would be so trite to write the things I’ve written about for the past 10 years while the world was experiencing such grief and loss. I do hope you understand my reasons and am grateful you choose to join me as I explore the Lessons we need to learn from this Pandemic that’s taken so much peace so suddenly from so many of us. Call it an act of God. Call it a conspiracy. Call it a Law of Nature. The Coronavirus has become a household word and it’s here to teach us all something.

Each day has become a gift. The present moment has become a gift Cherish it. Give something back to the planet.

And there is so much to be thankful for. Our list of blessings increases with our mindfulness doesn’t it?

But WHY is all this happening to you, me, the entire human race? To teach us valuable life lessons to help us evolve and get out of the bubble we’d been in? To remind us that Lessons will repeat themselves until we learn. To give us the choice. Of Evolve or Repeat?

What do the Tarot cards have to say?

and the Tarot assures me that there is HOPE there is RECOVERY there is a NEW ORDER but first we need to learn.

Have a look at your sunsign.

Aries

If you’ve found yourself at a fullstop in life, you may be denying something within. Time to take more charge of your life and depend on fewer people. They’ve shown you their true colours. Time to march on. And knowing you, you will do it.

Taurus

For every shadow there’s a ray of light. For every tear drop shed there’s a smile. You’ve understood the cycles of highs and lows and learnt that nothing lasts. A part of you is ready for achieving something significant this year. Nobody can stop you but your own thoughts.

Gemini

As you discover the lies you’ve been living with, a part of you may no longer wish to associate with those who’ve used you or deceived you. You may realise a larger purpose to your life and associate yourself with a cause. Just get your finances in order before you take a leap.

Cancer

You’re stronger than you think and your deepest fear is only a figment of your imagination. You’ve learnt to express yourself instead of repressing your true feelings about someone or something. A creative side is waking up within you.

Leo

How much do you truly need? Reassess your life and your needs practically. All your answers are already inside you but don’t distract yourself from inner reflection and introspection.

Virgo

Love is forever and even though your old flames have moved on with their lives, there’s still a flame that burns bright. Maybe that is the secret to getting through? Maybe it’s time to whisper out what you feel to the one you love the most.

Libra

Crossroads come for a reason. Choosing between a new career path or the tried and tested. Staying single or marrying the special someone. The answers will unfold. And you’ll be glad you to took the right path.

Scorpio

Solitude and instrospection has its advantages. You’re able to think of life from a broader angle now and understand relationships a little better. Honesty with self and others is the best policy to prevent a misunderstanding.

Saggitarius

Staying busy brings a different kind of peace. Sorting, decluttering, reorganising and cleaning helps to make space for something better, something new.

Capricorn

Karma has a way of popping out just when we least expect it. The more you resist the changes in a relationship, the more it will hurt. Forgiveness does not mean what they did was okay, it means for peace of mind, you just have to let them go.

Aquarius

After the darkness will come the dawn. There is hope, there is relief, but only after processing the pain and the strife inside. A cycle ends and a new cycle begins. How will you make it different this time?

Pisces

Don’t underestimate yourself or your abilities. The time has come to have greater self belief and greater focus. Your dreams can come true and more and more people will see your greatness. But first you need to believe in yourself. Listen to the voice that tells you can.

We’re all connected. We’re all in this together as human beings. And we’ll all emerge transformed in some way. It’s not easy, and it’s not smooth but we’ll do it.
