3 Reasons to Burn Sage at Home

Trusted by the Native Americans for centuries as a healing and purifying aide, burning sage or smudging as it’s called is something we can all do to purify, cleanse and heal our spaces and our souls. Like incense and essential oils, it’s distinctive mellow fragrance and smoke brings with numerous benefits, of which I’ve mentioned three below.
Sage can be burnt anytime. However it is recommended before you move into your new house or office. After someone has been sick. If family members have been arguing a lot lately, or having a poor circadian cycle or there’s just a dense, gluggy vibe in the air you want to dispel.
Here I’ve used White Sage from Mexico which can be used for smudging healing crystals, objects, doorways and stagnant energy spaces ( for example, behind or under furniture)
Sage has a sweet and mellow smell and is known to enhance tranquility while meditating. Personally I just feel a little lighter with sage while my son smiles and goes ‘mmmm’

We are living in historical times. The Pandemic has altered our reality in multiple ways, changed our consciousness and brought life lessons our way, stuff we had to learn as a collective and as individuals. One major life lesson we may have all learnt is how quickly things can change in a second. Literally, as parts of the world open up their borders and bring back normalcy to daily life, while other nations suddenly clamp down and take measures to isolate, confine and heal. And internally as our consciousness moves to adaptability and as the cards suggest, one of movement.

From one state of mind to another. As parts of our being wake up. And parts of our memories are discarded. The Past is where it belongs, behind us. Old attitudes are dropped. And old wounds are forgiven. We have to move along, we have to move on.

From one shore to another. With a lot more travel. With baby steps towards healing and recovery. With the laying down of new strategies in terms of public health, travel and import-export regulations, Sudden prosperity in new emerging markets and greater digitisation of systems. Trans-national collaborations and sharing of medical discoveries and greater research into other forms of diseases which may be water borne.

Reunions with loved ones far away. Relocations. Short business trips. Setting plans in motion. Long distance relationships. Greater earnings. New sources of income. Letting go of the past. Taking the future moment, by moment with a sense of practicality and compassion for the other.

Happy Children’s Day!

Today’s the day when children across India are showered with love and honoured for being in that special phase of life where everything is discovery, learning, living in the present moment and simply having fun.

Playing is integral to childhood and these tiny, chubby, cute, shrieky, wriggly, shouty, naughty beings remind us just how important it is to take time out from the endless uphill stress and struggle of adult life and play. We are most alive when we play.

Albert Einstein once said he wished he had played more. Leonard Da Vinci made it a regular practice to play outdoors with his neighbourhood kids.

Science has revealed that adults who took time out to play daily for a few minutes are more peaceful, intelligent, creative and balanced. Even if it’s for a few minutes online, or a quick game of rock-paper-scissors with your child, or making lego houses.

So if there’s anything I’d recommend you do today on Children’s Day is to play with a child or pet, and if you don’t have children around, you pamper the child in you

5 Side Effects of Daily Meditation

November is the month I began to learn about meditation 21 years ago. At first it was so difficult, it took me nearly 2 years to get the hang of it, and even now, I still have days of struggle, where I can’t stop the mind chatter or get myself to sit still for more than a few seconds, but from whatever I have learnt and continue to learn, meditation as a practice is so worth it. And my 2 bits for anyone starting out, don’t give up on the practice, experiment with different techniques just don’t quit.
