PC was the the little boy in preschool who was happiest when he was drawing and coloring. He drew mountains. He drew the sun. He drew fishes, and flowers and rivers and waterfalls. He dreamt of shiny stars and swirling leaves. His teachers loved him.
“Oh he’s such a sensitive child, the other day I had a bandage around my finger and he came up and kissed it and told me I’d be fine” said one teacher.
Another laughed and remarked “Cheerful little creature. Always ready to lend a helping hand”
“And there’s wisdom too. Almost as if he’s divine, the things he says….” the Principal leaned forward to listen about the Page of Cups”
“The other day I was teaching the class about washing hands. They were standing in a queue waiting for their turn on the taps. When his turn came he soaped his hands, shut the tap and turned to me and said. “I am saving water for my children”
With the rising anxiety levels around all of us, it’s hard not to get affected by the news, views and the forwards. Meditation, exercise and taking frequent breaks from social media and the News and drawing can help bring peace and clarity.
Art can be especially therapeutic in times like these. An effective way to release built up stress, alleviate depression and bring clarity and focus, a simple box of crayons and paints is a wonderful and peaceful way to release whatever it is that is bubbling inside all of us. And if you don’t have access to colour, just doodle the stress out.
As the panic spreads in irrational ways across the world, as newscasters scream out the headlines, as losses rise, it’s getting harder to stay unaffected
And when I turned to my deck this morning for further answers, the cards seemed to point at healing and renewal for everyone at every level.
At first glance the spread is pointing at Historical times. We are all living in a time where nothing’s been like this before and nothing will ever stay the same again. Megachanges – be it in the form of climate disruptions, destruction of forests, extinction of many species and losses economically over the past few years have been leading upto this. The Coronavirus of 2020 will go down in history as the turning point for the world at every level – mentally, emotionally, financially and spiritually.
Situation – Intuition Reversed.
When we stop listening to our instincts and allow ourselves to get drowned in the multiple voices of fear and alarm, we go into a state of paranoia. Fences go higher. And fear based behaviour takes over. People go irrational as they start fist fighting for the last bag of toilet roll, or they make claims of curing coronavirus with body fluids or start using sanitary napkins as masks. More cases of Anxiety and Depression and the effects of prolonged isolation will affect interpersonal behaviour across the world. Yes, yes we know all this.
But how do we fight this?
From inside, and here’s what has helped me deal with the info overload and I hope it helps you.
Deep breathing relieves anxiety. Try inhaling slowly to a count of 6, holding your breath and exhaling to a count of 6. Do it as an SOS or during
Limit your time watching the news and reading the forwards on social media. If it’s affecting you detox for a few days.
Spend more time with Nature. Have your coffee in the park. Tend to your houseplants. Eat more fruits with vitamin C. Keep washing your hands
Do something for a cause you believe in. Feed a hungry soul. Go beyond yourself , feel compassion.
Challenges over the next 6 months (March -September 2020) – Material and Spiritual Prosperity and Spiritual Union Reversed
Such a powerful card in a position of challenge points towards greater economic losses for industries across borders. Spending and saving habits will change. Currency rates will drop. And divisions will increase in terms of travel restrictions, trade restrictions, racism and acts of violence as multiple groups try to claim their power or assert their rights. Fear will incite extreme behaviour in individuals and communities. Again the answer is inside all of us. Identify your triggers. Take a reality check of your finances, plan expenditure wisely, detox regularly from social media and toxic people and find your space of calm. Metta meditations are beautiful and effective and involve sitting in a meditative space saying
“I am healthy. I am safe. I am at peace” then thinking of someone or some people and saying “We are healthy. We are safe. We are at peace.” help induce states of positive calm within. And raise the planetary vibrations from a space of darkness to light.
Outcome after 6 months (September 2020-September 2021) – Firm Foundation, Recognition and Renewal
Energies will reconsolidate and recalibrate. The turning point begins slowly on a positive note. More cases of Healing, Recovery. Significant advances in Medical Discoveries. New alliances between nations. More sale of weapons. renewed demands on oil. New Trade laws. Travel routes open up. Shift in School and University timings and modes of teaching. More Plant Based Diets. Establishment of new organisations in the field of health, mental health. New sources of income. Younger and younger leaders getting elected.

The Tarot gives an indication of your life as it exists in the present moment and how it is most likely to evolve based on your present patterns of belief. As anxiety levels rise in our lives so must our precautions. Whether it’s the News which affects us, or the uncertainty around, it is in the knowing that “this too shall pass” which will allow us to clear these times. Our bodies too have been naturally designed to help us release built up stress and fear in the simplest and most natural manner with our breaths.
When we are stressed or afraid, our breathing is rapid and shallow. Our bodies tense up and our blood pressure increases with lesser amounts of oxygen. Some of us feel nauseous or dizzy and unable to stay still.
Conscious breathwork, or calming breath techniques offer immediate relief. Be they in the form of Pranic Breathing, Chi Breath or just simple long deep breaths which help.
Here’s what has helped me and many other over the years when the anxiety levels begin to go up.
Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.
Make yourself comfortable.
Focus on your breath. (You will be distracted by thoughts, but keep returning to your breath)
Inhale deeply extending your stomach to a count of 6.
Pause for a count of 3.
Exhale slowly, retracting your stomach to a count of 6.
Within 90 seconds a palpable difference is felt. Blood pressure normalises and a space of inner calm can be felt as your thoughts go quiet and you focus only on your breath and slowly realise this too shall pass.

The card of moderation reminds you to bring back the balance in your life especially in matters of work and leisure. Take time out to figure out what’s truly important in your life and quit doing so much for other people. Remember relationships are about give and take and not just give- give – give.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
You’ve worked hard to get where you are. And very soon, you’re going to get the recognition for it. Prepare yourself for praise and accolades. And if you were planning to take a break, hold on a little. Push yourself a little more. Don’t settle for second best. The world is about to see the best of you. You may find yourself splurging a lot more than necessary on little luxuries for yourself. Go ahead, you deserve it. Just make sure your budgets don’t go haywire.!
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Keep saying you’re confused and you’ll stay in this state. Ask for clarity, focus on getting solutions and you will find things get easier. Take a reality check, figure out what really matters and concentrate on the essentials. You may have to choose between 2 equally enticing job opportunities or 2 wonderful suitors. Who will you pick, listen to your heart and decide soon. A nagging health matter may see you taking the alternative path to healing, and seeing results.
Leo (July 23- Aug 22)
Unexpected expenses may take you by surprise. And if you were planning to revamp the house or your wardrobe, you may overspend. Avoid lending or borrowing during this period and do make sure your paperwork is organized. A colleague may see you as a threat and act suspiciously. Avoid confrontations during this period. Focus on your work and make sure you meet your deadlines. You may have to travel at a short notice or move house soon, so prepare for the unexpected.
Virgo (Aug 23- Sept 22)
The worst is over and it’s now time to brace yourself for what lies ahead. A relationship may end or a source of income may dry up. You knew it was coming, just get your Plan B in order. Even at work you may feel like the thrill is gone. Don’t quit regardless of the temptation, hang in there and figure out your options before you submit your resignation papers. Change is in the air, and now’s not the time for impulsive actions. An old friend may offer you an interesting lead or advice.

There’s a side of you that’s exhausted and too tired to fight. And there may another side of you that’s given up on caring. Don’t let the passionate side of you die down. Take a break. Meet some old friends. Or do something you love doing just to bring the positive energy levels up again. You cant give up now. Allow yourself some time to wallow but get back to your old self again. There’s a world out there to conquer and only you know how to do it. A good month to get your finances and paperwork sorted, a pleasant surprise may await you.
Saggitarius (Nov 22- Dec 21)
Changes at work may leave you confused and powerless for a bit. Someone else takes the reins and behaves erratically. An old colleague or employer may call you back to work for them again. And if you were planning to move to another industry this is the time for taking risks. You may have blocked your inner voice, how about seeking stillness and asking yourself what’s the best way forward.

Things run smoothly and it’s time to be a little more generous with your time and spirit. Acknowledge everyone and be grateful for their efforts. Do your bit for the underprivileged and realize at the end of the day all of us are interdependent and connected. If you’re rising up the ladder, pull up someone less fortunate than you. If you’re learning something new, share your knowledge. The card of giving reminds us just how important it is to share.
Aquarius (Jan 20- Feb 18)
There may be a lot to do but if you’re going to get overwhelmed how will you do it? Approach work in a step by step manner and remember, one day at a time. Family pressures may increase and you may feel like running away. Just slow down and calm yourself. Remember obstacles are placed in front of you to test your mettle, and you will pass with flying colours. Don’t listen to anyone who says you cant do it.
