Thank you

This morning I woke up with a fullness in my heart. 2020 is nearly over and what a year it’s been. The rollercoaster ride of emotions, the lockdowns, the horrifying news on TV and then the series of heartbreaks as I said good bye to so many dear souls who crossed over. The waves of gratitude engulfed me as I realised just how much I am thankful for. Still doing what I love. And so thankful to all of you who have trusted and supported me down 18 years of reading Tarot and healing. I wish you good health, peace and happiness. And will continue to read your cards and offer distant healing whenever I can and with every earning I can do my bit for a cause that”s dear to my heart – wildlife and street animals. Thank you.

God Bless and May there be peace and healing for all.

Anxiety has a way of coming in waves. Some may be up all night thinking. Some may be bingeing . Some may be restless and confused. Some may wander about with this tight knot in your stomach. Completely natural during these difficult days, there are a few ways which have helped not only me release the anxiety but also countless others.

Here are 5 quick and easy ways to relieve yourself of anxiety.

Deep belly breathing or pranic breathing is the fastest way to release pent up stress and anxiety. Incorporate it as part of your meditation or just do this whenever you start feeling the knot of anxiety.

Spending more time outdoors. Even if it’s a walk in the neighbourhood park. Colour therapy speaks about the healing and soothing powers of the colour green. And who else can heal best but Mother Nature.
Keep a stress ball by your laptop, helps release any anxiety or agitation while interacting with others.

Eat more fruit. The scent of oranges is supposed to boost happiness. Green leafy vegetables, fish are rich sources of nutrients that help relax us nourish us naturally.
Burning Essential oils or Camphor Crystals . Lavender, Jasmine, Neroli by stimulating the smell nerve receptors and sending messages to the brain to relax. If you wake up with morning anxiety then burn it in the room upon arising, and if you suffer from evening bouts, then make sure you have your burners ready in the evening

Anxiety can hit us anytime and anywhere. And though it may initially feel like it’s getting too much, calming techniques like breathing, walking or even talking to a friend can bring relief. However, if you feel it’s chronic, or not lessening despite natural aides, do consult your medical practitioner.

Om Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya |
Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya |
Mrtyor-Maa Amrtam Gamaya |
Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih ||

*****

This morning I heard a solitary conch blow in the distance.

Someone somewhere was evoking the Gods. Invoking blessings, peace, health and happiness. Purifying the atmosphere with its vibrations, ringing out the primordial sound “Om’ into the atmosphere. Removing the darkness bit by bit.

Someone somewhere was praying for all of us.

And to that someone somewhere, I will always be grateful. And I pray their prayers are heard.

****

Om Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya |
Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya |
Mrtyor-Maa Amrtam Gamaya |
Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih ||

Meaning:
1: Om, (O Lord) Keep me not in (the Phenomenal World of) Unreality, but make me go towards the Reality (of Eternal Self),
2: Keep me not in (the Ignorant State of) Darkness, but make me go towards the Light (of Spiritual Knowledge),
3: Keep me not in (the World of) Mortality, but make me go towards the World of Immortality (of Self-Realization),
4: Om, Peace, Peace, Peace.

This is one of my favourite renditions of this powerful mantra.

As anxiety levels rise in our lives so must our precautions. Whether it’s the News which affects us, or the uncertainty around, it is in the knowing that “this too shall pass” which will allow us to clear these times. Our bodies too have been naturally designed to help us release built up stress and fear in the simplest and most natural manner with our breaths.

When we are stressed or afraid, our breathing is rapid and shallow. Our bodies tense up and our blood pressure increases with lesser amounts of oxygen. Some of us feel nauseous or dizzy and unable to stay still.

Conscious breathwork, or calming breath techniques offer immediate relief. Be they in the form of Pranic Breathing, Chi Breath or just simple long deep breaths which help.

Here’s what has helped me and many other over the years when the anxiety levels begin to go up.

  1. Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.
  2. Make yourself comfortable.
  3. Focus on your breath. (You will be distracted by thoughts, but keep returning to your breath)
  4. Inhale deeply extending your stomach to a count of 6.
  5. Pause for a count of 3.
  6. Exhale slowly, retracting your stomach to a count of 6.

Within 90 seconds a palpable difference is felt. Blood pressure normalises and a space of inner calm can be felt as your thoughts go quiet and you focus only on your breath and slowly realise this too shall pass.

“Tayata Om Bekanze Bekanze Maha Bekanze Radza Samudgate Soha” the Medicine Budha

One does not even need to go into the details of the suffering around the Corona virus to know that what the world needs right now is healing energy not the destructive energy of fear, ignorance and suffering.

If the news is disturbing you, or if you’re struggling with an ailment or are taking care of a loved one who is ill, the Medicine Buddha Mantra brings peace at a deep level. It can be chanted by anyone, healthy or otherwise and is believed to raise the purifying vibrations on this planet. Tibetan doctors believe if this mantra is recited 108 times by the patient into his glass of water, the water becomes charged by the Medicine Buddha and can be repeated till healing occurs.

“To the Bhagawan with equal compassion for all
Whose name when just heard dispels lower realms’ suffering
Dispeller of disease and the three poisons
I prostrate to Medicine Buddha Lapis Light.”

Tayata Om Bekanze Bekanze Maha Bekanze Radza Samudgate Soha

“The patient is to recite the long Medicine Buddha mantra 108 times over a glass of water. The water is now believed to be blessed by the power of the mantra and the blessing of the Medicine Buddha himself, and the patient is to drink the water. This practice is then repeated each day until the illness is cured.”

Ever experienced Winter morning blues?

That sluggish, I do not want to get out of my blanket feeling.

The heaviness of plodding around doing morning chores with the absolute reluctance of a teenager.

This morning I woke up with the sound of the doorbell and a grey fog around my head. Call it brain fog, deprived sleep or just the Wintry blues. Everything seemed to be in slow motion until I forced myself to exercise. Just a simple 25 minute full body mobility and workout routine and the endorphins kicked in, the sun came out and my cat chasing a grape on the floor brought back a little smile.

But why did I feel like I was going to turn 100 on my next birthday?

According to the Mayo Clinic, “Winter is a dark time, so our bodies produce more melatonin in response. This leads to excessive feelings of fatigue and tiredness. The change in season can disrupt the balance of the body’s level of melatonin, which plays a role in sleep patterns and mood”

Aaah, and while simple exercise helped me, there were other ways to boost energy levels during the cold days of this season. Definetely worth practicing and sharing.

Natural Light in the morning is the best way to lift winter blues. Image from clickinmoms.com. Doctors recommend opening up your blinds and curtains upon rising to allow the maximum amount of natural light into your living space. Spending a brief time outdoors in the winter sun helps boost the sunshine Vitamin D in our bodies, acting like a natural energiser and mood uplifter. Natural light eases depression and anxiety associated with the foggy wintry days.

Pastel shades do a lot more for us than we think. Image from 123rf.com
Consciously Wear Pastels. Colour therapy believes lighter colours uplift us, raise our vibration and promotes feelings of wellbeing, where as wearing colours like brown, grey and black pull us down.
Citrus notes promote clarity, concentration and energy. Image from indiamart.com.
Certain essential oils when burnt in the morning or inhaled on a tissue help stimulate and energise the brain cells. Citrus aromas like Bergamot, Lime, Mandarin Orange are a few to choose apart from the trusted Basil which helps reduce fatigue and improves concentration.

Do note this tips are for the occasional case of winter blues which usually dissipate after a few hours of waking up. If you feel the tired, grey feeling lasts throughout the day or week and is affecting your personal and professional life, it would be best to meet with a doctor.

5 Ways to Let Go

Letting go is one of the hardest practices we will encounter, but once we do it, we wonder why we did’nt do it sooner. Many a times we find ourselves stuck about someone or something and people tell us to “let go”.

But how?

Here’s a few tried techniques that may work for you if you are struggling with something. Remember very very few of us have the ability to let go in a second. For the majority of us the process takes many tries. and time. Be patient, be persistent.

  1. Write it down and burn it.

Struggling with a relationship that’s over. Disturbed by someone’s insensitive behaviour which you find difficult to forgive? Psychologists and Healers recommend writing a long letter to them, pouring out your feelings and allowing the process to be cathartic. Get in touch with your feelings, remember what happened and write out your soul. When you’re done, just burn the letter. Chances are you may feel lighter and purged of your pain.

2. Connect with the Inner You

Meditate and focus on your breathing. Start paying attention to your mind and your body. Start getting aligned with you, your space, your feelings and thoughts. Too many times when we find ourselves too attached to others the pain comes as a reminder to detach and focus entirely on your seperateness from them. Get in touch with YOU. Appreciate and accept your who you are. Understand you cannot change anyone but yourself. Allow any feelings to arise and be kind with yourself.

3. Look for Closure

Most relationships break up without closure. People disappear without giving answers. And those who are left holding on wait for a final goodbye or some sort of sign from them to close the chapter. When it doesn’t happen, we have no choice but to find closure within ourselves. Say “My relationship with X is over” out loud during meditation, write it out, or talk to a trusted soul. Acknowledge and accept that it’s over. When you reach a space that someone or something was not meant to be in your life for a reason (which you may or may never know) you allow yourself to disconnect and restart.

4. Forgive Yourself. Forgive Them

The process of forgiveness can take a long time and comes with its share of reliving the pain. The pain is but a passing energy, let it flow out, once and for all. Contemplate on all the mistakes you made, realise your humanness. Contemplate on their mistakes, realise their humanness. Consciously work at forgiving and allow the peace to come in.

5. Distract Yourself

I find this technique works the fastest and at a practical level, it’s do-able. The key is to be mindful. Whenever you find overthinking about someone or something, do an activity that breaks the pattern. Clean your drawer. Delete the Junk mail. Go outdoors. Use your hands. It works in seconds as an important part of the process of letting go.

Letting go takes time and when it doesn’t happen naturally, we need to push ourselves out of our comfort zones to speed up the process. Not easy but necessary for our own growth. We allow ourselves a second chance and as the wise ones have always told us “when one door closes, another opens.”

If you’re still finding it difficult to let go, reach out for a guided healing meditation on Letting Go to get you started on your process of restarting and reshaping your life. Email me at mita.bhan@gmail.com for details.

The most beautiful part of living is contained with our breath,

Our life force. Our link with the Divine and Beyond. Our reason for existence.

If we weren’t breathing, we wouldn’t be here.

99% of us arent even aware of whats happening to us when we breathe.

And the majority of us don’t even know how to tap fully into the power of the breath. The key to vitality, wellbeing, inner peace and joy. And the tool through which we can let go of mental, emotional and physical blocks to our absolute state of perfection. Breathwork is simply working with our breaths using various techniques to find peace and harmony within.

After all, if we’re not at peace inside, how can we be at peace with the world around us? These techniques have found their roots in Ancient Yogic practices , Shamanic practices, Buddhist practices and modern day methods to bring about feelings of deep relaxation and rejuvenation.

Done consciously for a few minutes each day or as a SOS tool, breathwork works! After 5 minutes you start feeling better, and after 20 minutes you may even feel lighter and a little different as well. Conscious breathwork works to lower blood pressure, release anxiety and stress and bring more focus into our lives.

Breathwork allows our frequencies to vibrate a little higher. It pulls us away from the dense and drudgey energies of daily stresses. It allows us to reach a state of inner balance where suddenly, even if it’s for a short while, Life is beautiful all over again.

Don’t Bottle Up Your Feelings.

Image of bottle from IKEA

Trying to be strong by repressing emotions is the worst thing we can do for our health. Every emotion we ignore, push back or numb out, finds a way of coming back at us, in the most toxic of ways. By suppressing a painful memory and acting like everything is normal is simply buying time until they re-emerge or make us sick.

I’ve learnt that repressing emotions and bottling them up doesn’t make them disappear, they only make things worse and one fine day, some little thing is going to make them spill over or explode. And if I want to live more fully in the present and embrace the potential of the future, I HAVE to express those old buried feelings.

What’s required is a final goodbye. Crying one last time for something or someone and then never again. Pouring your heart out in a letter. Talking it out. Realising that the memory is the past, and cannot be changed, only released.

Leaving us lighter, freer and a lot more healthier.

Guided Healing Meditations combine energy healing and meditative techniques to help us release old, unwanted baggage that’s preventing us from being our best selves. For more information message me at mita.bhan@gmail.com or 9810138315
