La Douleur Exquise, a French phrase for the pain of wanting the love of someone unattainable
Goddess Deck, personal collection

He couldn’t help him himself. He didn’t choose to fall in love. It just happened, the only problem was she was married and leaving her spouse was simply out of the question. When I read his cards I could see the deep love he shared with her – the kind of love where happiness and sadness went hand in hand.

He was younger than her. Settled in a high paying job. Perfectly eligible for marriage himself. And his mother and aunts made sure they showed him pictures of various girls who they felt would be his Mrs Right. Most of the time he ignored them and sometimes would even shout at them for bothering him, his voice riddled in pain and frustration.

He had tried letting go. Multiple times. In multiple ways. But somehow she found her way back into his heart and once again they’d chat, or meet. And once again he’d return to his room lying awake through the night, wondering if this was his future.

His question was simple.

“Why has she come into my life if I cannot have her as my wife?”

For one second look at this question not as a human being. But as a soul.

Love is never limited to romantic love. Love is like an umbrella encapsulating the different shades of love. And if we as souls want to experience the true meaning of Love, we need to experience every aspect of love. The joy, the pain, the longing, the peace. In lifetime after lifetime. Be it unrequited love, sibling love, platonic love, romantic love, spiritual love. Each lifetime brings a different scenario, a different learning. Lessons would be repeated until the learning was complete. And the advanced lessons would get harder.

“So what is my Soul Learning?” he asked

To accept and not resist. Love is harmony. Love is being at peace. First with ourselves and then with the other. A part of you still struggles and suffers this way. Make peace with the side of you that cries in pain. Begin to fall in love with yourself. Which part of you brings you the greatest happiness, which part of you still struggles. Embrace the shadows, find completion in yourself. Accept yourself wholly.

“And then……”

When you accept your self, you accept the other unconditionally and the situation for what it is in reality, not the way you would like it to be, something we all do when we fall in love. We think of “what if” “why isn’t it? instead of appreciating the greatest lesson in life. Love.

“You mean love her unconditionally but ….wouldn’t it would hurt so much…”his voice broke for a second.

The feeling of love we all seek, does not lie in the receiving. It exists in the giving.

“I get it”

The deck was closed. The lesson learnt. For not just the young seeker in love, but also his old Tarot card reader.

“Every morning birds would sing
Do you remember
Those special times
They’ll just go on and on
In the back of my mind” –
“Remember the time’ by Michael Jackson

You are blessed today for all your good thoughts, words and actions of the past. The times you helped someone. The times you brought laughter into a sad room. And the times you were uniquely, you.

Think of a special time in your life. And express gratitude to the people and places that come up in your memory. They too have played a role in blessing you today.

Dealing with Sudden Changes in Life

Nobody likes sudden changes.

Nobody.

Initially we all put up a fight.

We want the good old ways, or the good old days. But deep down we know it’s not going to happen. It’s either accept, adapt, suffer or struggle.

When 4 fives come out in a single spread, you know it’s no small matter. In the Tarot, fives represent change, challenge, fluctuations of energy and a certain unpredictablity with it. And when reflected in the 4 suits you can be sure the changes are taking place at all levels, globally and personally – at all levels – Professionally, Personally, Mentally, Emotionally, Spiritually.

The key to change is to not panic or fear. Not all changes are bad. Some serve us wake up calls. And some get us ready for who we were meant to be and what we were meant to become. Take time out to meditate regularly and operate from a place of stillness. Maintain an open mind and go with the flow. And while you’re at it, think of ways to adapt with changing times.

As the great Greek philospher once said “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old but on building the new”

16 years of Tarot

Image from Amazon

When I began learning the Tarot way back in 1998 I never thought I’d go professional until a friend suggested it to me. It took me 5 years to feel I knew enough about the 78 Tarot card meanings and spreads to start my own practice and in August 2003, I took the leap. At first I thought, “ok let me try it out for a year”

16 years have passed and I still am trying it out:) Learning as I go along from books, from courses and most of all from all the wonderful souls who have turned to my deck for answers. And have supported and encouraged me down the years. As a token of gratitude, I’ve got a few surprises lined up for all of you who take out the time to come to me at my office in Gurgaon or opt for telephonic readings this month.

Looking forward to celebrating with all of you:)

King of Cups, Cat Deck, personal collection

As the sun went down she began to feel a little lost. The forest seemed denser, quieter with a deep underlying hum in the air. And the path was anything but smooth. She approached a small ditch surrounded by mossy rocks and algae – so very very slippery.

“Whoops”

“I got you”

A warm hand clasped her arm firmly. But it was too dark now to tell who it was. He felt safe. So safe she didn’t feel like rising from the pile of musty leaves, she was hoping he’d just pick her up.

And he did.

In his even warmer arms, he carried her across the forest in most delicious loving silence she could ever imagine. When they reached the road he put her down and she thanked him. They laughed a little and melted each other’s souls with their gazes. They knew they’d never feel this way with anyone else. And she knew she’d found her King.

One of the most loving men in the Tarot deck is the King of Cups, balanced, generous and with the gift of making a woman feel special and safe. If a King of Cups is significant in your life right now how about a Love Reading or Report to find out more about him and you. Get in touch with me at mita.bhan@gmail.com for details

Major Arcana Card Death XIII from the Old Path Deck, personal collection

Look around you.

Surrounded by cluttered thoughts, ideas, beliefs, attitudes and relationships that you no longer need.

They’re weighing you down.

Holding you back from the Future.

Look at you.

Afraid of losing the familiar.

Afraid of the the unfamiliar.

Cut the cords. Detach. Let go. Release, Complete.

Something new and better is about to begin.

But first the old has to end.

The Death card is never to be feared but embraced. It can never be literal physical death but time to break free of the old, outdated, expired and unecessary. Something ends, but something new begins.

AdvantagesofTarotreports, Tarot Reports

“While the spoken word can travel faster, you can’t take it home in your hand. Only the written word can be absorbed wholly at the convenience of the reader.” Kingman Brewster Junior

Recently I got a call from a lady who had re-read a few Tarot Reports I’d written for her in 2006. She was surprised that they still made sense. And had kept printouts for her now grown up children to read. We discussed the advantages of Tarot Reports namely:

  • The meanings of the Tarot cards never change. They capture the essence of the moment of a reading. Sometimes they make sense during the reading and if written, they’re deepest meanings are understood much later.
  • While spoken words are forgotten, written words endure. Everytime you re-read them you understand the different layers and levels of the Tarot.
  • Written reports offer greater depth and detail than a short telephonic session or a face to face reading which give you the crux of the matter.
  • Written reports can be saved and given as gifts for your loved ones.

If you’re looking for a detailed Tarot report on the following, get in touch for details.

  2. Professional Report

8 of Swords. Don’t feed the fear

8 of swords from the Goddess Tarot deck

“I’m so scared. What if I ask my boss for a promotion and he refuses me.”

“If I ask her out I’m afraid she’ll say no.”

“What if I fail my exams?”

“Will my father be angry with me if I tell him ?”

“I fear I will never get another job if I quit.”

Who doesn’t have fears. Fears are part and parcel of being human. And whenever the 8 of Swords appears as an answer to a question related to something that’s making you anxious, you can be pretty sure that the fears are not coming true.

A minor card from the suit of swords, this card talks about feeling trapped in our state of fear, of reliving the horror, and being unable to move to a space of freedom and courage. And that’s exactly what the card wants you to do. To not stay stuck, to move, even if it’s one step at a time.

A long time ago a wise old man told me “on the other side of fear is courage, be brave enought to walk through this emotion” At first I couldn’t. The ‘what ifs’ and ‘oh no’s’ swirled through my head like a never ending chorus, but with effort and self exploration I realised the fears that held me back were temporary blocks to getting what I wanted.

Whenever I see the 8 of Swords I always convey the message “Don’t let your fear of what could happen make nothing happen” Walk through the fears with logic and the help of a friend or a counsellor if you must. The fears you feel are false and on the other side could be the liberation you need.

Why you can’t change jobs yet. A Tarot perspective.

jobchange, not getting a job, obstacles to your job change, professional challenges, Tarot, Tarot and Your Career, Tarot insights

You’ve been wanting to change your job for months now but nothing’s materialised. You may have been called for an interview but then there was silence. You may have reached out to your contacts but no one’s followed up on their promise, or so it seems.  There’s frustration, there’s anxiety and the delays just don’t make sense as you think you deserve a change.

When it comes to these situations, the Tarot never fails to offer memorable insights.

IMG_6628

Based on an analysis of career related spreads and the placement of Major Arcana cards, here  are a list of possible reasons why it may be happening in no order of preference. Reasons as to why you are not able to change jobs right now,  may differ from person to person to differing degrees.

1. Unfinished Karma with your current organisation and certain individuals.

2. Time for a Career Shift to a different industry, job description or location.

3. Time to start your own business or consulting practice.

4. Time for learning a few Life Lessons mainly patience and hope, among others.

5. Insufficient self discipline, self motivation and self confidence and unclear professional goals.

6. Your personal life needs more of your attention.

7. Hidden blessings.

If any of the reasons listed above resonated with your situation, introspect and reach a state of understanding. Where necessary take corrective action. Only you know your current professional situation best and trust that you will move in the direction you wish.
